The series of Local Conferences of Youth (LCOY) are a regular hub for discussing socio-economic transition politics and the increasing climate crisis of today. Several hundred active young people come together every year to participate in workshops, discussions, open debates and strategic planning around movements, initiatives, and politicians. The Austrian version of the event on November 10th 2023 involved a public event featuring BRRIDGE researcher Felix Butzlaff from CEU Vienna on “Democracy, Populism, and Culture Wars”. Together with Hauke Dannemann (WU Vienna), Monika Kobzina (Political Consultant), and Sandra Walder (Journalist, APA Austria) they discussed the state of contemporary climate political debates in light of far right electoral successes.
