From Aug 29th until Sept 1st 2025, BRRIDGE researcher Felix Butzlaff co-chaired a section at the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) general conference at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, together with co-chair Nino Zhghenti from Free university in Tbilissi/Georgia. The section on “Emerging Dynamics in Social Movements: Navigating Challenges and Innovating Tactics in a Shifting World“ brought together 8 panels from the field of social movement and participation research and was endorsed by the ECPR Standing Group for Participation and Mobilization. Feix presented a paper together with Hauke Dannemann on “More progressive but also authoritarian? How to make sense of value changes in late-modern democracies”. The section provided the space for exciting debates, especially on the shifting ground of political mobilizations and the changing landscape(s) of young generations’ engagement patterns that will deeply affect political landscapes in the future.
