From 26–29 August 2025, Kamila Borseková from UMB participated in the 64th Congress of the Regional Science Association International (ERSA), hosted by Panteion University in Athens, Greece.
As part of the scientific programme, she actively contributed with two research presentations based on the ongoing Horizon Europe project BRRIDGE:
🟣 Gender Fatigue? Framing and Counter-Framing Gender in the Struggle for Equality
Session: Socio-Spatial Inequalities: Segregation, Migration; Gender, Discrimination, Social Exclusion
This presentation explored the framing and counter-framing of gender equality in the context of anti-discrimination and social exclusion. The discussion centred around the concept of “gender fatigue”—a growing public and political weariness toward gender policies—and how these narratives shape societal and institutional responses.
The paper, co-authored with E. Yahyaoui, M. Noir, M. McGill, and J. M. Mintal, stimulated lively discussion on improving gender equality across Europe.
🟣 Decoding Regional Dynamics: Institutions, Innovation, and Regional Development Dynamics in the EU
Session: Regional Growth Models, Competitiveness, and Convergence
This paper analysed institutional frameworks, innovation processes, and their impact on regional competitiveness and development trajectories in the European Union. The findings provided new insights into the interlinkages between innovation, institutional capacity, and regional convergence.
The presentation, co-authored with S. Korony, A. Rodríguez-Pose, M. Styk, and H. Westlund, generated valuable feedback that will further inform the next stages of the research.
