We are pleased to announce a new publication stemming from the BRRIDGE partnership between Matej Bel University and the Central European University. The article, titled “Decision tree insights into spatial and temporal patterns of convergence in EU labour markets”, has been published in the top-tier journal Environment and Planning A: Economy and Space.
This study enhances understanding of convergence patterns in European Union labour markets by analysing labour market efficiency (LME) indicators across 258 NUTS2 regions in 25 EU countries. Using decision tree models, the authors identify groups of regions exhibiting shared patterns of convergence, divergence, or structural similarity.
The paper introduces a novel data-driven methodology to map regional labour market performance and its evolution over time. The findings highlight persistent disparities and reveal regions that deviate from expected trends, offering valuable insights for tailored, region-specific policy design aimed at promoting balanced economic development and labour market cohesion across Europe.
