Matej Bel University continues to make significant strides in advancing gender equality, aligning with the European Commission’s policies.
The University has developed and begun implementing a new Gender Equality Plan for 2024-2026 https://www.umb.sk/app/cmsFile.php?disposition=i&ID=7501 , focusing on creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for both employees and students.
In addition, the University is drafting a new directive aimed at enhancing safety, particularly in preventing gender-based violence and sexual harassment that should be in place by the beginning of the next year.
Matej Bel University has also launched a comprehensive communication campaign to raise awareness about gender equality and establish a common language to promote these essential changes within the university community. This campaign includes a student competition to design a logo symbolizing an inclusive university, a series of blog posts highlighting courses that address gender equality, and interviews with female graduates thriving in male-dominated sectors. Additionally, conversations with both male and female professors explore topics related to work-life balance, further engaging the academic community in these vital discussions.
Leading these vital changes are project team members Martina and Alexandra who are actively improving their expertise by attending workshops and conferences home and abroad. They are also fostering a Community of Practice with other Slovak partners to ensure sustainable, collaborative progress.
